Beach hut 412A; looks like someone has skipped the filling and sanding steps and gone straight for a coat of paint. Sloppy!

Filling and sanding

It's that time of year again when many beach hut owners repair the outside of their huts and make good the ravages of winter weather. This is hut 419; cracks in the woodwork filled and sanded down ready for a smart new coat of paint.

Pleasant but overcast

After yesterday's brilliant blue skies and bright sunshine, today is overcast but still quite warm. I went for my usual Sunday morning walk along the seafront to Hove Lagoon along with the customary joggers and dog-walkers.

Bright and brassy

Many of the neighbourhood gardens are sporting at least one Forsythia in full bloom - this one's in Vallance Gardens. The shrubs are flowering a little earlier than last year.

Walking down Trafalgar Street, Brighton, on my way to the Brighton Bead Shop in Sydney Street.

Don't often see this

Hove Street in the morning without its customary parked cars and vans; all ready for road marking to be carried out today as indicated by the yellow signs. The whiteliners arrived, inspected, and half an hour later, all the signs were taken down. Probably someone had remembered that they'd repainted the street markings in November.

Dedication

I was back at the Cornerstone Community Centre today with Brighton Craft Guerrilla and remembered to write down the dedication of the glorious stained glass window that appeared here last year. Today's photo shows the upper section of the window. The dedication runs along the bottom of the window and reads: In memory of Elizabeth Sims Freshfield beloved wife of Charles Freshfield who died in this parish on the 30 May 1849 at 36.
