Looking back 5

Sun going down, January 2011.
You can see more sky photographs at today's Skywatch Friday.

T is for Tree

A tall tree of the Christmas variety - so tall that it was impossible to get back far enough to shoot the whole thing. It's part of the Christmas display on the lower floor of Brighton's Churchill Square Shopping Centre.
This is an ABC Wednesday post.

Looking back 2

April 2012 - sunshine and shadows in the churchyard of St Mary de Haura, Shoreham-by-Sea.

Daytime moon

Another photograph from yesterday, this time looking east across Hove Street to Hove Manor.

Rustle, rustle

I love walking through crisp, dry fallen leaves; the sound makes me feel about five years old.

Cream against blue

St Stephen's Church, Montpelier Place, Brighton has a fascinating history including being demolished, moved  and rebuilt on the present site. The Grade II listed building hasn't been used as a church since 1939; these days it's owned by the Brighton Housing Trust (BHT) and is the First Base Day Centre for homeless people.
I shot this yesterday and the sky really was as blue as it looks; the weather was more like August than November!

Sunday 18 November 2012

Sunday morning

Sunshine streaming through windows, a sleeping cat and the anticipation of lunch with friends. Perfect!

Saturday 17 November 2012

Still grey

The weather's still grey and gloomy today - at least grey sky makes a good background for bare branches.

Friday 16 November 2012

One I made earlier

A sunset from way back in November 2010; it makes a much nicer image than today's actual sky which is grey. Plain grey.
You can see more of today's sky photographs at Skywatch Friday.

Wednesday 14 November 2012

R is for Rainclouds

These clouds looked full of rain and threatening but, as often happens here, they drifted harmlessly over Hove and straight out to sea without spilling a drop.
This is an ABC Wednesday post.

Tuesday 13 November 2012

Steeper

A little further along the road than yesterday - that's Compton Road branching off to the right with The Drove continuing steeply downwards in the centre of the photograph.

Monday 12 November 2012

Steep

Looking down The Drove from the Dyke Road end and yes, the road is as steep as it looks.

Q is for Queue

Queues in Tesco, my local supermarket, at lunchtime today.
This is an ABC Wednesday post.

Edward English

Gravestone of Edward English, St. Andrew's Old Church, Church Road. The inscription reads: In memory of Edward English Esqre. of Streatham, Surrey, 31st January 1863, aged 73 years.
According to census records, Edward English was living at 2, Belle Vue Terrace, Streatham with two servants in 1861. He is described as a widower and his occupation given as 'Proprietor of Houses'.
You can see more gravestones and memorials over at this week's Taphophile Tragics.

Mucky beige

It's wild and windy down by the sea this morning - a mucky beige-coloured sea whipped up into frothy waves.
