Sailing away
Liz came to stay last weekend and is guest blogger on HDP this week. The weather was lovely down by the seashore; warm enough to sit happily on a seafront bench, knitting, chatting and watching boats sailing leisurely past.

Limescale
We have very hard tap water down here on the coast. I flushed this little lot of scale out of my kettle - the largest piece is about 2.5cm (1") across.

Taking a short cut
I often use Medina Villas as a short cut between Hove seafront and the shops. There's a huge mix of architectural styles on show down the street, ranging from newly-built modernist apartments to 18th and 19th century houses. I love the rounded gables on this house.

A very good year for flowers
The weather hasn't been particularly brilliant at the seaside this summer; some sunshine but a fair amount of rain and grey days. It seems to suit flowering plants though - these baskets hanging outside a pair of cottages in Hove Street look very colourful.

Roadworks
Both Brighton and Hove seem to have more than their fair share of roadworks. Gas main repairs at the crossroads where Blatchington Road, Church Road, Hove Street and New Church Road meet have been disrupting traffic for several weeks.
