One from earlier
I was in Shoreham-by-Sea today, meeting a friend for lunch here. The food was delicious but the weather was pretty horrible - wet, grey, windy - and it was far too dull for taking photographs. Here's a shot of St. Mary de Haura from earlier in the year.

They don't last long...
...but sudden bursts of sunshine are very welcome at this time of year. It made a nice change today to go out and not come home wearing wet soggy clothes.

X is for Xmas
This made me laugh - the giant snowman and Father Christmas are suspended from a window in Lansdowne Place.

A reflected mariner
The UK is having an awful lot of wet weather; even on a dry day there are large pools of standing water which can't drain away. The reflection shows the Brills Lane side of The Mariner.

W is for Wheel
The Brighton Wheel is on Brighton seafront near the pier. You can read more about the wheel here on the Regency Society website and see how the wheel looks from Madeira Place.

V is for Vivid
This morning's sky at 8.18am. You know the old rhyme - red sky in the morning - and the weather forecast doesn't look too promising for the rest of the day.

U is for Unauthorised
I walked up to Hove Delivery Office earlier today to pick up a package and spotted this sign. Happily, a pedestrian strode into view and saved this from being a really boring image...

CDP Theme Day - My Street
This month's City Daily Photo Theme Day is My Street. I live on a corner where two streets meet; this is one of them, Hove Street looking south towards the sea with Princes Avenue running westwards. The photograph was taken from my balcony in November 2010 and this was how Princes Avenue looked exactly two years ago today.

T is for Tree
A tall tree of the Christmas variety - so tall that it was impossible to get back far enough to shoot the whole thing. It's part of the Christmas display on the lower floor of Brighton's Churchill Square Shopping Centre.

Cream against blue
St Stephen's Church, Montpelier Place, Brighton has a fascinating history including being demolished, moved and rebuilt on the present site. The Grade II listed building hasn't been used as a church since 1939; these days it's owned by the Brighton Housing Trust (BHT) and is the First Base Day Centre for homeless people.
I shot this yesterday and the sky really was as blue as it looks; the weather was more like August than November!

The weather's still grey and gloomy today - at least grey sky makes a good background for bare branches.

One I made earlier
A sunset from way back in November 2010; it makes a much nicer image than today's actual sky which is grey. Plain grey.

R is for Rainclouds
These clouds looked full of rain and threatening but, as often happens here, they drifted harmlessly over Hove and straight out to sea without spilling a drop.

Steeper
A little further along the road than yesterday - that's Compton Road branching off to the right with The Drove continuing steeply downwards in the centre of the photograph.

Steep
Looking down The Drove from the Dyke Road end and yes, the road is as steep as it looks.
