Street furniture

Some of the street furniture along the seafront is extraordinarily ornate. This is the lower part of a street light which combines several decorative motifs and borders to great effect. I love the pattern of leaves and roses twining round the white section.

It's amazing what the Victorians did with the most mundane things. I remember seeing brass pipes exposed in an old hospital and they were decorated with twirly bits and leaves. Just wonderful. I'm glad you still have those lamp posts, we had some in Edinburgh when I was young but, alas, no more.
