This patch of sporting green is between Wish Road and Saxon Road. There seems to be some confusion about what it's called - some maps label it 'Recreation Ground', some call it 'Wish Park' while on others (including Googe Maps) it remains nameless.
Type into Google "Wish Park, Hove" and one of the first references is to its alternative name "Aldrington Recreation". I always knew it as Wish Park.
I recall there used to be a railway station called Aldrington Halt between Hove to Portslade stations. I see it's still there called simply Aldrington.
Well, I've lived in the area all my life and as far as I'm aware is Wish Park!
There still is a railway station called Aldrington, Barry, and the Parish of Aldrington still exists with it's Parish Church (St. Leonards) on New Church Road.
It's Wish Park - always has been - always should be! 'Twas part of my old stomping ground when I was a kid, and usual gathering place for me and my chums! ;oP
Thanks Jason. St Leonard's is just around the corner from Worcester Villas where I lived some 45 -50 years ago. However we went to the Congregational Church on Boundary Road
I moved to Hove from London in 2007 and I'm gradually finding out about the delights of both city and seaside. Come and join me on my pictorial voyage of discovery.

During the 50+ years I have lived in Hove and Brighton it has always been Wish Park.
