Winter sea 2

Looking in the opposite direction from yesterday's photo; this one shows Brighton's Palace Pier in the distance.

It's traditional

The traditional brisk walk along the seafront on Boxing Day is usually thoroughly enjoyable; this year the weather was far too wet and blustery to venture out, so here's one from last year.

Not a white one

It's a beautiful Christmas Day by the seaside with bright blue skies and sunshine. Temperatures are much warmer than they have been lately; all in all, a lovely day for the middle of winter.

Icy

Much of the snow has now turned to ice - it's beginning to melt but side roads and pavements are still covered with a thick slippery layer making it difficult to get out and about.

Things I love about living in Hove 5

The sea in winter. Well, I like everything about living at the seaside in winter apart from the wind which never seems to stop.

Things I love about living in Hove 1

Brighton & Hove has a superb library service offering book borrowing and computer access for free - there's a small charge for borrowing CDs, DVDs and audio books. I listen to a lot of audio books (they're great for knitting to) over the course of a year and I borrowed this lot from Hove Library today using my audio-visual subscription card - the card is an absolute bargain at £30 a year (half price for over 60s like me) and I can take out up to 8 items at the same time. Now, which one shall I start listening to first....

LYS

Christmas window display at Cocoon, George Street, Hove. I do love having an LYS a few minutes walk from where I live (for those of you not into KnitSpeak, LYS = Local Yarn Shop).

Restoration 2

The house is in a fabulous position on the corner of King's Esplanade and Medina Terrace. It's being restored by David Gilmour who bought the property earlier this year.

Thursday sky

Beautiful sky colours this evening; soft like a watercolour.

Missing the obvious

I've walked along Sackville Road dozens of times before today without noticing the top two floors of number 49. How did I miss seeing those pretty arched windows and delightful balconies?

Side by side

The worldly and the spiritual rub shoulders in Church Road.
