Fire escape 4

On my way back home from meeting friends in Ethel's Kitchen, I noticed this fire escape in Vallance Road. I must have walked past this building hundreds of times without it registering.

Fire escape 2

This spiral fire escape is between two houses in King's Gardens; looking up to take the photo made me feel quite dizzy.

Fire escape 1

Many of the huge houses I've shown you over the last few weeks have cast iron fire escapes attached to side or back walls. This one's in Third Avenue.

Further away

King's Gardens again, this time looking at the houses beyond a row of beach huts on Hove seafront.

Round the corner

Round the corner from Third Avenue is King's Gardens, a row of terracotta-painted houses set back from the main road, Kingsway.

And more from Number 4

This rather peculiar balcony protrudes from the left-hand side of the house in yesterday's photo; the phrase "more money than sense" springs to mind...

Later than usual

The Mexican Orange Blossom is in flower again, nearly a month later than last year. It smells just as wonderful!

25 Third Avenue

After yesterday's weather distractions, another doorway featuring stained glass. This design's much more traditional than Tuesday's squares but just as attractive.

One misty, moisty morning

Princes Avenue was bathed in glorious sunshine a couple of hours ago; thick swirling sea mist is now creeping inland.

9 Third Avenue

I like the unusual stained glass panels in the door. The pattern would adapt nicely for patchwork or needlepoint.

Yellow

I spotted this shrub growing in a garden down Third Avenue and can't identify it. Can anyone tell me what it's called?

Disappointing

Unlike the faded grandeur of yesterday's signs, Albert Mews itself is rather a disappointment.

Clouds

It's one of those days where the clouds look so low in the sky that you feel as though you could reach up and touch them.

Much brighter

This morning's weather, that is. Still cold and grey but at least there's been a little sunshine! The tiny flower beds nestling between paving stones outside the block of flats where I live have been planted up with pansies - I love the colours.

Drizzle, drizzle

Cold, grey, wet. In other words, here's some typical British Bank Holiday weather...
