It's a good year for garden spiders

I noticed dozens of small, large and medium-sized garden spiders on my way to Tesco this morning. This was the biggest one with a body about 15mm long and pretty markings.

Ice plants

Ice plants, Sedum spectabile, are bringing welcome splashes of autumn colour to many of the gardens near where I live; these are in Aymer Road.

Hove War Memorial 2

Unlike some other war memorials, this memorial does not display the names of the fallen. The Roll of Honour commemorating the names of the 631 men who died during World War I is in the foyer of Hove Library.

Enormous rosehips (about the size of radishes) in the gardens at Ashley Court, Grand Avenue.
