When I was a child we used to rent a beach hut. I don't remember them as close together as this - or so smart. I read somewhere they cost a fortune nowadays. I think there used to be a lottery as to who lot one to rent as more people wanted them that were available.
Don't know if this still occurs but the beach huts were controlled (rented out/cared for) by one man who was known to all as 'Bernie the Beach Hut'. He had the monopoly on the whole beach hut scene!
Lovely photo - the Hove ones are so much prettier than the ones down my end of Brighton coast.
My daughter is renting in Hove on the Kingsway and on a recent visit I was very impressed with the beach huts. So smart and colourful. Shame there are none for rent or up for sale.
I moved to Hove from London in 2007 and I'm gradually finding out about the delights of both city and seaside. Come and join me on my pictorial voyage of discovery.

The contrast between the gaily- colored beach huts and the buildings behind them is really striking.
